Great News! 615 phone

This January, Store to  Door purchased Collegeboxes, a student storage business based in Boston, Massachusetts.  This is a terrific opportunity for Store to Door because of the synergy between the two companies.

"Purchasing Collegeboxes is a natural fit for our business," says Jim Wayman, CEO and founder of Store to Door.  "We are providers of mobile storage, and Collegeboxes uses companies like Store to Door on over 60 campuses coast to coast.  We have been a vendor of Collegeboxes for years and are excited about the opportunities that this new partnership holds for Store to Door.

distribution"The purchase of Collegeboxes for Store to Door makes great sense.  Collegeboxes will retain its own identity, systems and operations but will have access to an entire cadre of facilities and services available from Store to Door."  Earlier in his career, Wayman was a founder of Paychex and Safesite Records Management Corp, (now Iron Mountain).  He is a seasoned entrepreneur with an eye toward business growth and solid operational success.

"The logistics of picking up 10,000 college students' belongings, at the same time of year and delivering them back at the same time while making sure all items are accounted for is a tall order," says Wayman.  "To improve the operations of this process, Collegeboxes will use Store to Door's proprietary bar coding system, developed and successfully used by Store to Door for over 10 years.

John Barrett of Bedford, Massachusetts, whose son goes to Georgetown University, says he is planning on using Collegeboxes for the first time this year.  "I can't imagine driving 10 hours to the school in May, packing up his dorm room into our car, and driving all that stuff back here only to drive it back down in September," says Barrett.  "Not only that, but the room is in a four-story walk-up."

The Starter Kit

Collegeboxes will now offer all customers an initial Starter Kit.  At the beginning of the storage process, each student receives a Starter Kit, ordered via the Internet.  Two days later UPS delivers five new medium size boxes, label holders, markers, tape and a video showing students how to build their own boxes.  This service is more convenient than Collgeboxes' previous process, which required the students to go to a central location on campus to pickup their supplies.  So if your student needs storage, go to collegeboxes.com and see the list of schools we service.  We will be on campuses in force this spring!

Ship to School and Semester Abroad Programs

Aside from summer storage, Collegeboxes has expanded to offer several additional unique services tailored to students.  Ship to School and Ship to Home at the end of the semester are becoming more and more popular with students and parents.  Collegeboxes offers door to door service, saving the time and hassle students and their parents have of lugging boxes that often weigh 50 pounds or more to shipping and postage stores.  In addition, Collegeboxes will expand its Semester Abroad Program, allowing students to store their belongings while they are away, with the ease and convenience of immediate delivery upon their return to school.
